Pub Blogs

If I had resolved my “About Me” page dilemma , more of which later, it would be apparent that one of my pursuits was “socialising ” , a hobby stated on many a Curriculum Vitae, in pubs and drinking beer. Not just any beer but specifically cask or real ale. I also enjoy pubs per se for their variety and social history. Two recent additions to my Blog Roll on the left are The Pub Curmudgeon whom I have followed in ” Opening Times” , the South Manchester CAMRA publication, for some time and Pubs of Manchester a link to which I found on Curmudgeon’s Blog.

The Pub Curmudgeon comes over as somewhat reactionary but the opinions expressed often ring true and are a useful counterpoint to our overly PC society. If you are a rabid anti smoker , look away now. Pubs of Manchester is an attempt to document all the pubs and bars, both past and present,  in the city centre of Manchester . An interesting piece of  history in itself and with lots of nostalgic memories for me.

  1. Curmudgeon says:

Ta for the mention, although I would say it is more a combination of “freedom-loving” and “nostalgic” than “reactionary” :p

Three more beer-related blogs with a strong local flavour are:

    Tandleman’s Beer Blog

    Tysons’s Beer and Cheese Blog

    Oh Good Ale
