Mellor – a growing community

When we moved here around 6 years ago, one of the main reasons for the move was to live somewhere with a real sense of community.  Mellor has this in spades and there are many ways this manifests itself. It has numerous clubs and associations, a thriving social life and an equally robust spiritual one. This week is The Mellor Show, organised by the local primary school with a variety of events taking place this Saturday. As part of this event, Scarecrows have been appearing all around the village as part of a competition.

Another event due to take place next year in June 2012 is the Mellor Open Gardens , more of which in another post, but the last Gardens event featured a single  scarecrow called Rafe and some would like to think that, in some small way, he has grandfathered this years scarecrow generation.
